Introduction

Coding infrastructure or specifying the desired state, what is the preferred approach?

With Cloud Computing you can create compute infrastructure by writing a program. You call the appropriate APIs and you can create anything you want. This has resulted in the term “infrastructure as code”. In this talk we will look at the differences between creating the infrastructure using imperative languages like Typescript and Python and the desired state configuration paradigm employed by CloudFormation and Terraform.
