Many organizations still run their most important data workloads on legacy platforms such as Oracle Exadata, Teradata, and SAS. Moving them to the cloud is a big opportunity, but it is also a big challenge. Migrations are time-consuming and risky. Documentation is often missing or out of date. Business logic is hidden in thousands of scripts, stored procedures, and ETL jobs. And the people who built the system may no longer be in the company. One small mistake can break the reports the business depends on every day.
At Xebia, based on our experience and real use-case, we built the approach to make this journey faster and more predictable – we called it Xebia Axis. It covers three phases:
-
Assessment: understand what you really have, including objects, dependencies, complexity, and migration effort.
-
Migration: translate code and move data to BigQuery.
-
Data reconciliation and semantic validation: prove that the new platform gives the same results, both in the numbers and in their business meaning.
In every phase, we use a hybrid, best-of-breed approach. We combine deterministic methods with the advanced reasoning of AI agents. We also combine BigQuery Migration Service with open-source technologies. Deterministic methods give precision and repeatability. AI agents help with complex and undocumented logic. BigQuery Migration Service brings proven, Google-native translation, and open-source tools add flexibility. Together, they create synergy: speed and high quality at the same time.
In this session, we will show how it works in practice, using the migration of an Oracle-based data warehouse to BigQuery as an example. You will see each phase step by step, and we will share the lessons we learned along the way.
- What a full scan of your legacy estate (Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, SAS, Hadoop, or other on-premise systems) can tell you about workloads, lineage, and cost.
- How AI agents, together with deterministic methods and BigQuery Migration Service, convert and validate SQL, ETL, and orchestration logic in parallel, and what makes this approach reliable instead of risky.
- How our reconciliation and semantic validation process proves, at scale, that the data in BigQuery matches the source.
- Why some work still needs people and roughly how much of the work this is.
- What your analysts can do with Gemini Enterprise on BigQuery once the data is there.
Migrating your legacy data to the cloud is a vital but only the first step. The true business value is unlocked when any analyst or business stakeholder can get immediate, actionable insights from it. In this live demo, we will explore how Gemini Enterprise and BigQuery’s advanced data platform capabilities are revolutionizing traditional analytics by introducing conversational AI interfaces.
In the second session of the day, we will push the boundaries of standard SQL tables. We will demonstrate how BigQuery seamlessly processes both structured and completely unstructured data—including PDFs, JPG images, and audio recordings.
At the end you will see a built, secure next-generation AI Agent integrated with Gemini Enterprise. You will see firsthand how business users and analysts can have natural-language conversations with enterprise data to extract critical insights instantly, without writing a single line of code.
Key take aways from the Live Demo of the second session
-
How to easily analyze PDFs, images, and audio files alongside traditional structured tables.
-
Enabling non-technical users to ask complex questions of their data and receive immediate, trusted answers.
